CEVO Partners with theGXL to host Season 5 CS:GO & TF2 Pro Playoffs on LAN

CEVO Partners with theGXL to host Season 5 CS:GO & TF2 Professional Playoffs on LAN at theGXL Universe 2014 in Philadelphia (October 10-12, 2014)

(Tuesday, June 10th, 2014) – CEVO, North America’s largest competitive online PC gaming league, and theGXL, the East Coast’s largest and longest running BYOC LAN event, have announced today that they have entered into an agreement to host the CEVO Season 5 CS:GO & TF2 Professional Playoffs on LAN at theGXL Universe 2014 event on October 10-12, 2014 in Philadelphia.

This partnership will mark CEVO’s first foray into producing LAN events in North America and will be broadcast by CEVO’s digital media arm, CEVO-TV.

Hosting East Coast BYOC LAN events since 2004, theGXL has managed many events with attendance as large as 700 gamers. theGXL will work with CEVO to create a separate tournament area inside of the large event venue.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be partnering with the people at theGXL to execute our first LAN tournament after almost 10 years in the business of hosting exclusively online events.”  - said Chris Pipher, General Manager at CEVO. “Moving into the LAN scene was the natural next step for us as we continue to experience the tremendous growth of our online events at CEVO.com. It’s something that our players have been asking about for a long time, so we’re really happy that we’re now able to deliver on that request, and we’re looking forward to an amazing weekend of gaming."

“TheGXL team and I could not be more excited to partner with CEVO to host Counter Strike: GO and Team Fortress 2’s Season 5 Professional Playoffs! After ten years of holding our own LANs, with buy-in, pro-series tournaments, this upcoming event will take TheGXL to the next level.”  – said Kyle Turk, Director of TheGXL. “We have wanted to hold an event like this for quite some time, and with the help of CEVO, we will finally have the opportunity to do so.”

The CEVO portion of the event will take place on Friday, October 10th, and will feature the top four professional teams from CEVO’s CS:GO and TF2 Season 5 events. Teams participating in the CEVO event will also be able to compete in the existing GXL Universe buy-in tournaments that are taking place on Saturday, October 11th, and both CS:GO tournaments will be broadcast exclusively on-site by CEVO-TV.

Registration for CEVO’s CS:GO & TF2 Season 5 events are set to launch Tuesday, June 10th at 12:00 PM EDT, with more event news to be released over the next few weeks. Registration for theGXL Universe BYOC is open now and both general admission and spectator passes are available at the official theGXL website.

I'm impressed guys. LAN playoffs is one of the few things that gives ESEA an edge in the professional division. Long live CEVO!

Perfect sounds good. One more question, I guess this depends on the crowdfund pool? but is the prize pot for cevo-p going to be increased with people having to pay for plane tickets etc to get to the playoff lan event?
