CEVO Announces Partnership with altPUG LLC to expand Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Services and bring Premium League Features to Season 5
(Monday, June 9th, 2014) – CEVO, North America’s largest competitive online PC gaming league, and altPUG LLC, a free, third-party platform which enables gamers to play CS:GO pick-up games and scrims, have announced today that they have entered into an exclusive agreement to bring premium league features to CEVO’s Season 5 CS:GO tournament.
The partnership expands on CEVO’s goal of producing the best online competitive gaming tournaments in North America by providing gamers of all skill levels with the opportunity to play with their friends and compete for cash and prizes in tournaments throughout the year. altPUG’s current services will be phased out in the coming weeks and users will have the option to transition their accounts over to the new CEVO service. altPUG.com will remain online and be re-purposed as the corporate website of the company.
Launched in July, 2013, altPUG offers free CS:GO competitive services complete with automated game servers, match statistics, demo recording, and proprietary anti-cheat technology. Together with CEVO, they will focus on integrating their technology into CEVO’s existing infrastructure to provide players with a place to practice and compete in tournaments in a high quality, cheat-free competitive environment.
"Since we re-launched the CEVO website in September 2012, we’ve seen tremendous growth in our seasonal CS:GO events, and during this time our players have told us time and again that they’d like to have a place to practice and play with CEVO outside of their regularly scheduled matches." said Chris Pipher, General Manager at CEVO. “We’ve been following the altPUG project closely since its launch last year, and as we’ve gotten to know the team, I can say with confidence that we couldn’t be more excited to be working with them to provide North American competitive Counter-Strike players with an alternative to what’s currently available to them, and to make Season 5 the best CS:GO tournament that we’ve ever hosted."
"Matt and I started altPUG in July 2013 with a simple goal of providing the service the players deserve. We started with PUGs and launched Scrims in a closed beta in late December and have seen amazing growth and support from the community. Breaking into the competitive scene by offering league functionality has always been a goal of ours, so when we were approached by CEVO in seemed like a good fit." said Will Graham, co-founder of altPUG. "However, once we got to know the folks behind CEVO and talked with them about their vision, we couldn't move forward fast enough. We're extremely excited to partner with CEVO and further develop the CS:GO competitive scene together."
Beginning in Season 5, CEVO’s CS:GO players will have the option to play their CEVO matches on premium game servers running an automated match mod with full game statistics, GOTV demo recording, and an improved proprietary anti-cheat client coupled with Valve’s (VAC) solution. In the coming weeks, pick-up game (PUG) and practice (scrim) features will be added to the platform.
Registration for CEVO’s CS:GO Season 5 is set to launch Tuesday, June 10th at 12:00 PM EDT, with features being implemented throughout the next few months.
